Blog 11: 13th June 2008 - Keep what is important to you

I was intrigued this morning to read the story of the RAF Pilot with a magnificent handlebar moustache who refused to get rid of it. He was on an exchange posting with the United States Air Force who wanted him to get rid of his magnificent appendage but he refused on the basis it was in keeping with RAF regulations. It has now been agreed he can retain his moustache.

I wonder how many hours of negotiation were spent on this issue but it is nice to see there has been an accommodation. Celebrating a unique part of your character and refusing to let go of what makes you different can help you keep a sense of your own identity.

However, it is understanding when to compromise and on what you should compromise that can lead to a successful relationship.

Down here in the South-West I’m beginning to feel any divorce settlements this week may factor in the fuel in the matrimonial car as part of the assets of the marriage. Most of our stations round here ran dry over the weekend or are now running low so if you were one of those people who refused to panic you have had to end up going to the garage pretty smartish
