Blog 9: 13th May 2008 - Mills and McCartney …again but it’s still not over!
Lots of reports today in all sections of the News media about the end of the Mills-McCartney marriage following yesterday’s pronouncement of the Decree Nisi.
Actually that is the first stage which means you have a decree of divorce but you are not yet free to remarry or call yourself single again.
If you are going through the divorce process yourself please remember your divorce is not completed until the Decree Absolute is pronounced. Generally speaking the earliest you can apply for your Decree Nisi to be made Absolute is 6 weeks after the date of the Decree Nisi.
Blog 10: 22nd May 2008 – Douze pointe
It’s the run up to the late May bank holiday weekend and another song contest. I wonder how many of those clients who tell me the failure of their marriage is just one of those things started out with a disagreement over whether the Eurovision Song contest is a must-see or a must-miss.
It amazes me that what appears to be a harmless bit of fluff can stir up such passions, either from the man in charge of it all - who is cross with us Brits for our tongue-in-cheek approach and apparently insists we should take it seriously as a cultural event - to those who come out in an allergic rash to the suggestion they should watch it at all.
I have had to cite television viewing as conduct in unreasonable behaviour petitions but can’t recall a specific programme being held to blame. Usually the complaint is along the lines of excessive viewing (to the detriment of other family activities such as saying hello to the spouse).
Still whatever happens this weekend I understand we will miss seeing Ireland’s entry Dustin the Turkey as he got knocked out in the semi-final– perhaps next year we will have the first entry from Sim City. I hope to go camping (rather than watching it) with my nearest and dearest this weekend in the hope of a TV free zone but bank holiday weather is forecast. Ho hum, I feel a song coming on…
